Объекты оценочной деятельности, обладающие рядом характеристик, учет которых необходим при выполнении любого оценочного анализа. В качестве его первого шага нужно понять бизнес оцениваемой компании. Сюда относятся номенклатура основной продукции, клиентура, обслуживаемые рынки, способы доставки продукции и т.д. Не менее важно понимание планов компании, ожидаемых темпов роста и др. факторов, относящихся к будущему. Анализируются также направления бизнеса, выясняется, какое значение имеет каждый из его сегментов для общей деятельности компании — ее активов, объемов продаж или для прибылей. Обычно при анализе крупных компаний трудности вызывает наличие более чем одного рода деятельности (направления бизнеса) оцениваемых компаний.
